Connecting fleet data into Odoo
How a breakdown alert becomes a maintenance work order and a purchase request without anyone retyping it.
The problem: fleet data lives outside the system
In many companies the tracking platform runs on one side and accounting, inventory and maintenance run on the other. Someone sees a fault alert or a refuel on the tracking screen, then retypes it into a maintenance order or an accounting entry. Every retyping loses or delays something.
The idea: the event reaches Odoo as a record
Once the tracking platform is connected to Odoo, fleet events arrive in Odoo as records, not as messages someone copies. Odoo is an open-source ERP covering accounting, purchasing, inventory, maintenance and more on one database, and Amancom is a certified implementation partner.
Example: from a fault alert to a purchase request
- The tracker raises a fault alert, or a service is due by distance or engine hours.
- A maintenance order opens in Odoo Maintenance for that vehicle.
- If a part is not in stock, a purchase request is created.
- The cost of parts and labour is booked to the vehicle and reaches accounting.
Fuel and trips in accounting
In the same way, fuel and trip costs reach accounting without manual entry, so you know the cost of each vehicle, project or branch from actual data rather than estimates.
What the integration needs
A tracking platform that exposes its data through an API, a recent Odoo version, Community or Enterprise, and a decision on which events become records. An Odoo implementation covers requirements analysis, setup, testing, data migration from Excel or older systems, and training.
